Building a legacy on and off the mat

Originally opened in 2016 by Tyler Brozell, Gila Cheer has been home to young athletes whose interest in the world of Cheerleading turned into a passion. Starting with 4 teams in her inaugural year, Ty dominated JAM fest 2017 bringing home the title of Grand Champion with the first ever group of All Star cheerleaders from the Gila Valley. The team colors may of changed but our legacy continued when Taylor Banks took ownership in 2019. Moving our gym into the Historic Downtown Safford. Gila Cheer has brought home more than over a dozen First Place competition banners in the past six seasons. Including specialty awards for Best Jumps and Best Tumbling. Not only is Gila Cheer known to house talented and award winning youth cheer teams, in 2019 Gila Cheer was nominated for "Best Business Newcomer" in the Safford Downtown Associations, Best of Safford awards. Mostly recently, owner Taylor Banks received a nomination in the 2023 EAC-Small Business Development Centers: Small Business Woman of the Year. Excellence continued when Coach Tay and her "prodigy" Mataya Mleynek (a Jr. Coach at Gila cheer) were both recognized in Eastern Arizona Courier's  "Most Influential" and "Most Influential Youth" 2024
While competition is the heart of our program, our hearts are in serving our community and giving back. You can find us as most local events, either performing or volunteering our time.
